Extension Bellows II Deluxe AR
Extension Bellows 2D AR
The Extension Bellows II Deluxe AR / 2D AR are older, more sophisticated bellows for the newer AR bayonet. The guide consists of a round gear rack and a parallel rod. Different from the simpler Extension Bellows II AR / 2 AR, both lens plate and camera plate can be moved, not only the lens plate. The extension is larger than with the simpler bellows, with a 52 mm standard lens in normal position, a magnification ratio of up to 3:1 can be achieved. On the gear rack and the guide rod, magnification ratios and exposure compensation values are marked for 52 mm and 135 mm lenses. The camera plate can be clamped with a lever in any position. Adjustment of the camera plate is done simply by hand-pushing, after loosening the clamp lever. The lens plate is moved by aid of a knob and the gear rack and can be fixed in any position on the rack by a clamping screw.
As with all Konica bellows, automatic AE exposure is not possible with the Extension Bellows II Deluxe AR / 2D AR, as there is neither a coupling for the lens's widest aperture nor an aperture actuator mechanism. With the Extension Bellows II Deluxe AR / 2D AR, the aperture must be closed manually on the lens's aperture ring prior to exposure. The bellows can be combined with the Auto Ring and Double Cable Release, then the automatic closing of the aperture to the value preset on the lens prior to exposure is possible. But as the Auto Ring does add 14 mm additional extension to the system, the values for magnification ratios and exposure compensation marked on the bellows's gear rack will not be correct any longer.
The camera bayonet connection of the Extension Bellows II Deluxe AR / 2D AR can be turned anti-clockwise by 90°. With the turnable bayonet connection, switching between landscape and portrait images is easy and can be done without having to turn the whole set-up or the bellows themselves.
A 1/4" tripod socket is placed in the bottom of the camera plate of the Extension Bellows II Deluxe AR / 2D AR.
All in all, I find working with the Extension Bellows II Deluxe AR / 2D AR to be a bit cumbersome. The clamping lever for the camera plate is fiddly, the connection to the tripod is not very stable due to the small bearing area. I much prefer working with the newer Auto Bellows AR or with the third-party Novoflex bellows.
The Extension Bellows II Deluxe AR / 2D AR were introduced shortly after the new AR bayonet had been established. As a cheaper and simpler alternative, the Extension Bellows II AR / 2 AR were sold contemporarily. During the time of the Autoreflex T2, both bellows were replaced by their successor models Bellows 3 AR and Auto Bellows AR.
The Extension Bellows II Deluxe AR / 2D AR are quite rare and show up only once in a while. Third-party bellows are easier to find and just as cheap, while they frequently offer more possibilities than these bellows.
Reverse Adapter
The lens plate of the Extension Bellows II Deluxe AR / 2D AR offers no possibility to use the lens in reversed position. If the lens is to be used in reverse position, a Reverse Adapter is required, which was delivered together with the bellows.
Slide Copier AR
The slide duplicator Slide Copier AR was also part of the Extension Bellows II Deluxe AR / 2D AR. This slide duplicator can only be used together with these bellows, it does neither fit on the simpler Extension Bellows II AR / 2 AR nor on the successor models Bellows 3 AR and Auto Bellows AR, as all these bellows do not have a matching connection for it. For the same reason the slide duplicator for the newer bellows, the Slide Copier 2 AR, cannot be used with the Extension Bellows II Deluxe AR / 2D AR
The connection consists of two thin rods, which are pushed into matching sockets at the front end of the gear rack and the guiding rod and can be clamped with a screw on the gear rack.
For shifting the image frame, the film holder of the Slide Copier AR can be moved in vertical direction. For horizontal shifting of the image frame, the film strip is moved in the film holder.

Slide Copier AR
For duplicating slides or negatives. Suitable for frame-mounted slides, film strips or film rolls. The Slide Copier AR was delivered together with the Extension Bellows II Deluxe AR / 2D AR. This slide duplicator cannot be used with any other bellows. The slide duplicator for the newer bellows, the Slide Copier 2 AR, has a different connection and cannot be used with the Extension Bellows II Deluxe AR / 2D AR. -
Auto Ring with Double Cable Release
An extension ring with a built-in mechanism for closing the aperture when tripping the shutter release by aid of a double cable release.

Bellows adapter 57mm F1.2
The extremely fast lens Hexanon AR 57 mm / F1.2 does not have the 55 mm filter thread as do most Konica lenses. For this reason, the Reverse Adapter does not fit that lens. With this adapter, lenses with a 62 mm filter thread can be used in reverse position on bellows. On Extension Bellows II AR / 2 AR and Extension Bellows 2D AR you will also need the reverse adapter.
